At the end of October 2024, the NIA Librarian, Sotiria Nikolou, participated in the 30th Panhellenic Congress of Academic Libraries, organized by the National Kapodistrian University of Athens at the Athens War Museum.
In her presentation, the NIA Librarian talked briefly about the history of Foreign Archaeological Schools in Athens and more specifically referred to the establishment of the Netherlands Institute at Athens (NIA), its history, how it functions, the collaboration with the Dutch Universities, its facilities, lectures and courses.
In addition, Ms. Nikolou, presented the NIA Library and its importance to the Institute, the development of the Library’s collection, the Troianos Collection and the opening hours. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of outreach for the Library and referred to its new activities, and the importance of Open Access publications and social media for the NIA.
Finally, she talked about the future plans of the NIA and its Library, emphasizing that the institute intends to continue its activities and multifaceted work by supporting and encouraging the production of high-level research.
