Some words on the speaker:
Dr Gert Jan van Wijngaarden is Associate Professor at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His research interests include Mediterranean prehistory and archaeological methodology and theory. He has directed fieldwork in Greece, notably on the island of Zakynthos from 2005-2015. From 2018-2022 he carried out archaeological research at ancient Troy in Turkey in the framework of the Amsterdam Troy Project. He currently serves as Visiting Professor at the Netherlands Institute at Athens in the framework of the NWIB Visiting Professors Program.
