Archaeological Fieldwork Projects

The Netherlands Institute at Athens has been recognized by the Ministry of Education, Religions, Culture and Sports as a Foreign Archaeological School in Greece since 1976.

In this capacity, the NIA acts as the liaison between Dutch academic institutions and the Greek State with the aim to promote, facilitate, and conduct archaeological research on Greece. The institute is, thus, responsible for all Dutch excavations in Greece; it obtains and supervises the permits granted by the Ministry of Culture and Sports for excavations, surveys and studies.

Information for applying and conducting archaeological fieldwork or personal study can be found here.
