On Tuesday 6 June, 18.00, the NIA has the pleasure of hosting a lecture by Dimitris Kountouras on the Dutch virtuoso flautist Jacob van Eyck. Taking his collection `Der Fluyten Lust-hof” as a point of reference, the speaker will introduce us in the rapid development of music in the society of van Eyck’s time. The lecture will be accompanied by live musical examples.

Dimitris Kountouras studied at the Conservatory of Utrecht and specializes in the interpretation and history of Baroque music, while he is a professor at the Athens Conservatory and the Ionian University.
The lecture is part of a cooperation project between Dimitris Kountouras, The Centre for Early Music of the Athens Conservatoire and the Netherlands Institute at Athens to enhance the appreciation of Baroque Music from the Netherlands in Greece. In the framework of the project a special series of workshops was organised for students from the Athens Conservatory in preparation of a double concert on June 12 (at 19.00 and 21.00) in Σ22 (K. Smolenski Street 22, Exarchia):
